~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - Natural Self Care Newsletter - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ In this issue: ~ New Year's Resolutions: Tips for Success ~ Upcoming Class - Cleanse & Clear ~ Special Offer *************************** ~ NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS: TIPS FOR SUCCESS ~ Set yourself up to succeed by following these simple tips for making incremental New Year's resolutions or achieving goals any time of year: ~ 1 ~ Set goals that focus on actions rather than results. For example, set a goal that focuses on the action of reducing dessert consumption, rather than on the result of losing 10 pounds. ~ 2 ~ Set 2 small goals at a time that you know you can easily achieve, rather than hefty goals that may become overwhelming and abandoned by February. ~ 3 ~ Set one of these small goals on letting go of an unwanted behavior and the other one on adopting a new one, i.e. watch less television and exercise more. ~ 4 ~ Build on these 2 smaller goals incrementally over the course of the year by marking your calendar at the beginning of each month or each quarter. For example if you have not been exercising at all, start in January with 20 minutes of exercise 2x a week. Increase to 20 minutes 3x a week in February, 30 minutes 3x week in March, etc. ~ 5 ~ Be very specific, the more specific you can be with your action goals the more likely you will follow them. For example, don't just say you're going to eat more fruits and vegetables, specify how many and when, i.e. I will eat 2 fresh fruits in the morning and two fresh vegetables at both lunch and dinner 3 days a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday. ~ 6 ~ Don't add on a new goal or increase an existing one before you have truly integrated the ones previously set. Re-evaluate goals that you were not able to achieve. Consider revising them to become realistic and absolutely doable - better to make really small goals that are seemingly insignificant and build on them, than to not accomplish anything at all. Incremental successes over time will increase your confidence and chances for continued success. ~ 7 ~ Most importantly, have fun with it!
