It makes those who eat it crave foods. That's why manufacturers put it in their products - it keeps you coming back for more! MSG is a neuro-transmitter that affects the hunger and weight control centers of the brain. It is actually fed to laboratory animals to fatten them up for research. These animals become obese without increasing their food intake. You can avoid MSG intake by eating foods that do not contain chemical additives, available at health food stores or the natural foods section of regular grocery stores. MSG is associated with other adverse health conditions as well and is wisely avoided by all. It is very important to educate yourself about this unnecessary toxic food additive.
2 ~ Aspartame the chemical component of artificial sweeteners such as Nutra-Sweet, should also be avoided if you are trying to lose weight. Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing "diet" about these toxic sweeteners. Aspartame is addictive and causes people who consume it to crave junk/snack foods and/or more artifically sweetened foods and beverages. There are many other adverse health symptoms and conditions associated with Aspartame as well. Once again, educate yourself about this substance. Some people find certain brands of stevia unpleasant tasting. Don't let this discourage you.
